I'm forever searching for low FODMAP bliss balls that do not contain dates or other dried fruit, so after endlessly searching the web I found the PERFECT ingredient.

And the date substitute? No, not raisins, not a nut butter, not coconut but the humble, versatile avocado.

Yep, you heard me right, the avocado. You can't taste it all but it works a treat and provides a multitude of health benefits. Including:

- they contain more potassium per serving than a banana; brilliant if you have a high blood pressure.

- 77% of the calories in an avocado are heart healthy fats; essential for the functioning of every single cell in your body.

- they are full of fibre so are great at aiding digestion.

Want the recipe now? Here you go...

Recipe:

- 75g of Hazelnuts,

- 25g of agave syrup,

- 1 tablespoon of cacao powder (I used creative nature superfoods)

- 1 tablespoon of maca powder (I used Organic Burst)

- 50g of avocado flesh,

- 50ml of cold water,

- 20g of protein powder (I use Pulsin pea protein)

Simply blend all of your ingredients together until they make a sticky, roll-able paste and then roll in to bite size balls.

I then rolled mine in any coatings I fancied; maca powder makes a really nice coating!

And most importantly, enjoy! xx

#1

Coconut oil; brilliant for sweet and savoury dishes as well as your skin.

#2

Turmeric powder; brilliant anti-inflammatory properties so great post workout to reduce muscle soreness.

#3

Eggs; such a versatile ingredient and a brilliant snack. Hardboil a few at the start of the week and you're less likely to reach for the sweet jar!
